Happy Trails Joins Cleveland APL To Rescue Goats From Basement Of Abandoned House

Neighbors reported cries coming from the basement of an abandoned house in Cleveland. Five goats were discovered in the basement, and Happy Trails joined the Cleveland APL in a rescue effort. We REALLY Need Blankets, Comforters And Sleeping Bags!!

The crippled and arthritic piggies snuggle into their straw underneath their heat lamps on these bitter cold winter nights, but we also give them heavy blankets, sleeping bags or thick comforters to crawl underneath. This brutal winter and the sheer number of pot belly pig residents has caused us to go through a tremendous number of blankets. Can you help us track some down?  Here's more info.

Happy Trails Is Collecting Emergency Supplies For Medina SPCA. 123 Dogs Rescued!

Happy Trails is collecting emergency donations for the Medina SPCA. They rescued 113 Cairn Terriers from Chippewa Lake. The dogs are matted, hungry and in poor condition. Many are pregnant. The Medina SPCA needs newspapers, food, blankets, squeaky toys, puppy playpens, volunteers to clean cages and of course monetary donations. Donations and supplies can be dropped off either at Happy Trails (call 330-296-5914 for drop-off times) or at the Medina County SPCA Animal Care Facility, 245 S. Medina St. from 12-4 on Mon,Tue.,Thurs, Fri ,and Sat.

Volunteer Opportunities For Senior Citizens!

Spring is just around the corner, and it's time to get out and get involved in your community!  We LOVE our senior citizens, and Happy Trails provides plenty of volunteer opportunities for seniors!  Kep as busy as you want to by helping out as a tour guide, meeting and greeting visitors, working in the office, driving small animals in pet porters to the vet, weeding spring flower beds or returning phone calls.  To learn more, call us at 330-296-5914.

Additional Horse Foster Homes Now Being Approved

Happy Trails is planning to add several horse foster homes to our foster home program.  The horses available for foster have already completed their rehabilitation and are simply waiting to be adopted!  If you would like to be involved in animal rescue and help care for a rescued horse until we are able to find it a permanent home, contact Happy Trails for more details at 330-296-5914! There Is An Epidemic Of Indoor Pot Belly Pigs Needing Homes!

Pigs like Dozer, raised in the comfort of an indoor home, are becoming homeless in the middle of winter. It seems like the calls are coming into Happy Trails in catastrophic waves. There are no less than 15 indoor pot belly pigs in need of being re-homed through no fault of their own. Please share this information - click on the headline for the story.

52 Thoroughbreds Were Destined For Sugarcreek After Their Owner Passed Away

We received no less than 150 emails and phone calls from folks who were concerned about the 52 Thoroughbred horses that were destined for the Sugarcreek Auction after their owner recently passed away. The outpouring of concern for these animals shows the amazing level of compassion that is out there. However, I'd like to remind everyone that between 250 and 300 other horses are run through the Sugarcreek Auction every weekend, and that there are plenty of horses already in rescue groups in need of your passion and help. On behalf of horse rescue organizations, I'd like to offer this commentary on the situation and ask you to share!

Many thanks to the over-200 folks who attended Happy Trails first ever Compassionate Thanksgiving!  We were simply overwhelmed and in awe of the turn-out, and were delighted to share such an incredible holiday meal and enjoy the company of such an amazing group of caring and compassionate people! Help Us Name The New Piggy!

Yet another young, pink, farm piggy arrived at Happy Trails last week after being rescued from a factory pig farm here in Ohio where the pigs are fed nothing but liquid waste from the facility that the hog owner also owns.  One pig was sadly euthanized, but this young man is determined to recover!  We always give the animals really cool names that have a special meaning. Can you help name the new pink piggy? Check out his photos!
