Kevin Bragg and George Ritchie, both Happy Trails volunteers, neighbors and friends, help exercise the rescued horses at Happy Trails and evaluate their level of riding experience. Both of them now proud owners of Happy Trails horses, want to see the rescued horses that come through the sanctuary find the very best homes possible. The horses are more adoptable if they are ridden regularly and evaluated as to what they know and how mannerly they are under saddle, both in the arena and on trail.

Juliette is a stunning solid black (except for one short white sock on her rear ankle) Standardbred mare. She retired as an Amish buggy horse, and has been taking to the saddle as though it were second nature to her.
George Ritchie works on fine-tuning the polite and well-mannered Juliette.
She's been dancing a little bit as she is mounted, but we believe she will soon be past that. She is quiet under saddle, polite, well-mannered, and eager-to-please.  She'll stop on a dime! Juliette is going to make a fantastic horse for some lucky family! She is 20 years old, completely sound and healthy, and her adoption fee is $350.

Takado came to Happy Trails as a starvation case. During his recovery period, he has gained approximately 100 lbs. He still has about 40 lbs. or so to go yet, but he is coming along quite nicely. The vet gave him the ok to start riding, so that's exactly what we did! Well, I should say, that's exactly what Kevin did!  Takado needs some time
Kevin Bragg said Takado stands very politely to be mounted, but does need some time under saddle wtih an experienced rider.
under saddle. He has obviously been ridden in the past, and stands very nicely to be mounted. His little ornery streak sometimes get the best of him, and he likes to test his rider to see what he can get away with. However, he has not bucked or reared, and his good looks seem to make up for anything else! Takado is around 15 years old, is sound and healthy, and his adoption fee is $450.

call the sanctuary at 330-296-5914. And no, the riders aren't part of the adoption deal with the horses....
